When I went to the Writing festival this past weekend I was not expecting it to be this informative or this fun to learn about graphic novels or writing in general. There was so much to choose from during the 3 days of experience and what made it even better was that it was for free for me to watch and comment while watching the discussions. Overall my experience learning about graphic novels and how to write them better and improved my writing was really informative and I really appreciated the session and what I taught me. Overall I enjoyed the session and the event itself. I would definitely recommend other students go next time.

One of the great things I heard from this event was how to become a better writer and how to work harder on being a writer. I think these are important for me because I personally love writing long stories that tell character development and stories of humans and their struggles. I think this is important for me and for others because I can personally make us better writers and better understand the human struggle. I think this is really important about writing character stories considering sometimes we write long stories to flush out characters and their history and their motives which is one of the important things I like learning from this discussion.

what the story was about,

Some of the stories were all over the board but they had a common theme of all being graphic novels. One example from the writer's stories was from the writer Kathleen. Her book Joe was an adaptation for the classic little women and more importantly a modern take on the book. The story follows a few of the characters through the ups and downs as teenagers and going into young adults. I think her book is important to read as she described it as a different take as well as a modern lens on a lgbtq story. I think this is important to storytelling because it’s telling the stories of those who are untold back then and that now is the chance to give them the chance and write their stories too.
